Problem:
I’ve been using the Topdon TopScan Pro for about 3 months now, but it won’t allow me to clear engine codes on a 2020 Nissan Sentra. The firmware has been updated and the Nissan software is current. They are not permanent codes and an ignition cycle doesn’t help. Any ideas?
Solution:
Nissan instituted secure gateways on 2018-up models (not all models had gateways in 2018, but they started adding them then). Without autoauth, any gateway Nissan will not allow codes to clear. Autoauth is a separate subscription REQUIRED BY NISSAN for any non-OEM tool to be allowed to clear codes or perform special functions or bidirectional controls. If you work at a Nissan dealer and have only ever used CONSULT software, you would likely never have known this because that software automatically unlocks the gateway seamlessly.
If you have autoauth, make sure you also have the Nissan fee paid to autoauth. There are two separate fees. (An annual general fee for autoauth, and an OEM fee for Nissan also paid via autoauth website).
Additionally, the VCI serial number must be registered with autoauth.
